East Hampshire's bin calendars have gone from 20 to 10, so your number may change. Our checks show the same days and weeks. Find your new number and next bin.

East Hampshire has cut its main bin calendars from 20 to 10, so the number you know for your Petersfield, Alton, Bordon, Liss or Liphook home may have changed. Your collection day and your rubbish and recycling weeks should not. We compared all 20 old calendars with the 10 new ones, and each new calendar carries on the dates of the two it replaces.

The council announced the new set on 3 November, and the calendars cover November 2026 to October 2027. “Please note that we have reduced the number of mainline calendars from 20 to 10, so your recycling, refuse and glass calendar number may have changed,” it said. Its message does not say why.

Find your new number

The list on the council’s bin calendar page shows which two old calendars each new one replaces. The last column is our reading of the new PDFs for next week.

East Hampshire's new bin calendars, the old numbers they replace, and what each collects in the week of 9 November 2026

35 and 7Tuesday10 Nov: rubbish
46 and 8Tuesday10 Nov: recycling and glass

The pattern is simple for now: odd-numbered calendars put out the green rubbish bin next week, and even-numbered ones put out the black recycling bin and the glass box. Food waste goes out every week as well, on its own day.

What changes, and what does not

On 4 November we compared the old calendars for October 2025 to October 2026 with the new PDFs:

  • The merged calendars were already identical. Old calendars 1 and 3 carry the same dates and the same bins, and so does each of the other nine pairs.
  • The fortnightly pattern runs on without a break. On all 10 new calendars, the first collection in November is the opposite bin to the last one in October.
  • The collection day stays the same. New calendar 1 is a Monday round, as old calendars 1 and 3 were, and the same holds for all 10.

What it means for you

  • Check your next collection on the new search. The council’s waste day finder gives your next dates for food waste, recycling, refuse, glass and, if you subscribe, garden waste. “This search is linked to the system East Hampshire Norse use to plan collections and updates daily,” the council said, so use it if a printed calendar and the search ever disagree.
  • Replace your old calendar. The old set stopped at the end of October. If you do not know your number, type your address into the council’s where I live page and look under “waste and recycling”, or use the address search on the calendar page.
  • Keep the same routine. Bins must be out by 6am on collection day. A missed bin must be reported by 4pm on the next working day, through the council’s missed bin page.

Hard-to-reach homes, food waste and garden waste

Not every home is on the main 10. The council’s list also has:

  • Nine hard-to-reach calendars, H1 to H9. On most of them, glass goes out on a different day from rubbish and recycling. H1, for example, is rubbish and recycling on Monday and glass on Tuesday.
  • Five food waste calendars, one for each weekday. The council says food waste is “collected on the same day every week” apart from Christmas and New Year, and each sheet prints its own festive dates. Here is the Monday sheet.
  • Ten garden waste calendars, G1 to G10. The G1 sheet warns that your garden collection “may be on a different day” from your other bins.

Christmas and bank holidays

The council says collections keep a regular pattern all year, with “the only exception” over Christmas and New Year. Rubbish, recycling, food waste and glass collections move from Friday 25 December, and normal service resumes on Monday 11 January 2027. Garden waste stops from Monday 21 December and restarts on Monday 4 January. Our Christmas bin collections page has the full day-by-day table.

The new calendars print no other changes. Every other date on all 10 stays on the usual weekday, including the 2027 bank holidays: Good Friday on 26 March, Easter Monday on 29 March, 3 May, 31 May and 30 August.
