Two Marden Way gardens took the Environmental Award, Annie Jones and Coates & Grute took gold, and Petersfield Infant School placed in three categories.

Petersfield Town Council has published the winners of Petersfield in Bloom 2026, across eleven categories. Petersfield Infant School placed in three of them. Downs House, entered in the nursing, care and sheltered housing class, took gold in two.

The results are on the town council’s own Petersfield in Bloom 2026 page. Judging was done by guest judges from Liss Horticultural Society and the Froxfield and Privett Gardening Club, pictured with the Town Mayor, Cllr Jamie Matthews.

Who did best

Three names come up again and again.

  • Petersfield Infant School took gold in the junior unusual container class, silver in the school and youth garden project class, and bronze in the Environmental Award
  • The Salvation Army took gold in the school and youth garden project class and silver in two others
  • Downs House took gold twice, in the nursing and care class and in the unusual container class

Marden Way is the only street with two placings in one category, taking gold and silver in the Environmental Award, with 40 Marden Way picking up a third place in the front garden class as well.

The town centre entries

Six businesses are named in the results, all in the retail and hospitality categories. Coates & Grute took the retail gold. The silver was shared between Sweet Stop, Courtyard Hair and Petersfield Cleaning Co., with Mackarness & Lunt taking bronze.

In the pub, restaurant, cafe and guest house category, Annie Jones took gold and Town House took silver. You can look any of them up in our Petersfield business directory.

What it means for you

The competition is open to the whole parish, residential and business, and the council runs it on the principle of keeping the town looking good and keeping it tidy. There were eleven categories this year, from the traditional hanging basket to the unusual container class.

The rule to know if you want to enter next year is that everything you enter must be publicly accessible. The council is explicit about that: the judges have to be able to see it, and so does everyone else. A garden behind a fence does not qualify, however good it is.

The 2026 entry window has closed, so the next chance is summer 2027. Entry details go up on the town council’s website each spring.

For the practical side of a Petersfield garden, our bin collection days page covers garden waste collections, and the Petersfield parking guide covers the town centre car parks if you are heading in to see the displays on the High Street and The Square.
