Christmas at Uppark opens on nine days, Sundays to Tuesdays from 6 to 22 December 2026. No booking: house entry is £10 for adults, and the garden is free.

The quick answer

Christmas at Uppark runs on nine days in December 2026: Sunday 6 to Tuesday 8, Sunday 13 to Tuesday 15 and Sunday 20 to Tuesday 22 December. The house is open 10.30am to 3.30pm and the garden 10am to 4pm. You do not need to book. Christmas is included in normal admission, which is £10 for an adult and £5 for a child for the house, and free for National Trust members. The garden, kiosk and second-hand bookshop are free to enter. Uppark is closed on Saturdays and on every other December day.

The nine open days

The National Trust’s Christmas at Uppark listing gives “the 6th to 22nd December”, but that range is misleading if you read it as every day. The opening calendar on Uppark’s own page shows it open on three Sunday-to-Tuesday blocks only:

Week Open Closed
1 Sun 6, Mon 7, Tue 8 Dec Wed 9 to Sat 12 Dec
2 Sun 13, Mon 14, Tue 15 Dec Wed 16 to Sat 19 Dec
3 Sun 20, Mon 21, Tue 22 Dec From Wed 23 Dec

On each open day:

Part Hours
Garden 10am to 4pm
House 10.30am to 3.30pm
Refreshment kiosk 10am to 3.45pm
Second-hand bookshop 10am to 4pm

The calendar shows no opening between Christmas and New Year.

Uppark is closed until then

Uppark is shut now. The notice on the National Trust’s Uppark page, read on 4 October 2026, says: “Uppark House & Garden is now closed. We will reopen for our Christmas event on Sunday 6th December.” The opening calendar matches, showing every day in October and November closed. If you were planning an autumn walk in the garden, it will have to wait for December.

What you will see

The National Trust describes it as “a glamorous Georgian Christmas”. Festoon lights lead into the mansion, where the rooms are dressed with tall Christmas trees, lights and garlands. The display is staged as a Christmas party in progress, with presents under the trees and a festive feast laid out in the dining room.

Outside, the garden designed by Humphry Repton and the meadow are open for a winter walk, with views across the South Downs towards the Solent and the Isle of Wight. The pre-loved bookshop and the kiosk, selling hot drinks and seasonal food, are open too.

The listing does not mention Father Christmas, a grotto or a children’s trail. For those, see our Father Christmas near Petersfield page.

Prices

The National Trust says Christmas at Uppark “is included with normal admission or National Trust membership, with no booking required”. Uppark’s published house prices are:

Ticket Standard With Gift Aid
Adult (18+) £10 £11
Child (5 to 17) £5 £5.50
Under 5 Free Free
Family (2 adults, up to 3 children) £25 £27.50

The garden, the cafe kiosk and the second-hand bookshop are free to enter, so you can walk the grounds without a house ticket.

Parking and getting there

Uppark is at South Harting, Petersfield, GU31 5QR, five miles south-east of Petersfield on the B2146 and a mile and a half south of South Harting. The National Trust gives the what3words as ///baroness.user.trailing.

  • Car park: free for National Trust members. Non-members pay £2.50 for up to two hours or £4 for the day. The car park uses the JustPark app for both member check-in and payment (location code 80537), so set up the app before you go. There are four electric vehicle charging points, and you need your own cable.
  • Accessible parking is in the main car park, and a drop-off at the front of the house can be arranged.
  • Bus: route 54 stops outside the North Drive gates, Monday to Saturday only. Two of the three open days each week are Monday and Tuesday, so the bus works on those, but not on the Sundays.
  • Train: Petersfield station is five and a half miles away.

Coming from Petersfield, the B2146 runs through South Harting. Check our roadworks and travel page before you set off, and our parking page if you are combining the trip with the town.

Still to be confirmed

Nothing essential. The National Trust has not published any separate ticketed Christmas events at Uppark, such as workshops or late openings, for 2026. We will check the listing again in November and update this page if anything is added.
