We checked 13 independent shops in and around Petersfield, from One Tree Books to Sky Park Farm, for opening hours and addresses. Updated November 2026.

Petersfield and the area around it have 13 independent shops worth a Christmas shopping trip in 2026, and this guide puts them in one place with opening hours, addresses and what each one sells. One Tree Books, Sage and Salt Studio, Hector’s and Madeleine’s Kitchen are the names most people land on.

Shops often change their hours close to Christmas, so check before a special trip.

Dates for your Christmas shopping trip

  • Thursday 12 November: Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery opens late for a festive evening. Admission to its South Downs Open exhibition is free from 5pm to 8pm.
  • Sunday 13 December: the Petersfield Christmas market runs from 10am to 3.30pm. The organisers promise 100 stalls.
  • Lights switch-on: the date was not on the town council’s events page when we checked. It was the last Friday in November in 2024 and 2025. Our switch-on page has the details.

We found no published 2026 date for late-night shopping in the town. No free Christmas parking had been announced either, so see parking in Petersfield for the normal charges.

How we chose

These are independent shops that sell gifts, books, clothing or Christmas food, and that publish enough to be checked. We started from local press reports, the shops’ own websites and public listings. We left out The Natural Food Deli on Dragon Street, because its website announced its permanent closure in March 2026. Opening hours are the normal hours as published on 5 November 2026.

Run a place that should be here, or spot something that has changed? Email newsdesk@petersfieldonline.co.uk. Taken a good photograph of any of these places? Email it to newsdesk@petersfieldonline.co.uk and we will add it with your name as the credit.

For the rest of the season, see where to buy a Christmas tree, where to see Father Christmas, Christmas dinner in Petersfield, things to do in Petersfield and what’s on this month. Our local business directory lists more places in the area.
