£174,894 has rebuilt the play areas at Admers Crescent, Liphook, and The Lyndons, Passfield, most of it paid by housebuilders. What each site now has.

Two play areas in the Liphook parish have been rebuilt at a cost of £174,894, and nearly all of it came from housebuilders rather than council tax.

East Hampshire District Council announced the official opening on 15 October. The two sites are:

  • Admers Crescent, Liphook
  • The Lyndons, Passfield, GU30 7SD, a village about a mile and a half north-west of Liphook

Families have been able to use both since 13 August. Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council posted that day that they were open again. Both had been closed from 22 June for the work.

Who paid

Source Amount
Developer contributions, collected by the district council £160,001.17
Bramshott & Liphook Parish Council £14,893
Total £174,894

Developer contributions are money that housebuilders pay to offset the effect of new homes on local services. The figures are from the district council’s announcement.

The equipment was designed and installed by the playground company Proludic.

What is at each site

The Lyndons, Passfield:

  • a new multi-play unit
  • balancing equipment
  • interactive play panels
  • new swings

Admers Crescent, Liphook:

  • a dedicated toddler area
  • a multi-play unit for older children
  • a new football goal
  • a basketball hoop

The council says both designs include inclusive features for children with disabilities. It has not published a list of which pieces those are.

What the councils said

Cllr Angela Glass, the district council’s portfolio holder for regulation and enforcement, said the money “helps us turn new development into real improvements for local people”.

Cllr Adeel Shah, portfolio holder for community development, said playgrounds help children “build confidence, develop new skills, stay active and make friends”.

The parish council said the improvements “help support our growing population and have already been extremely well received by residents”.
