Hampshire's half term is 26 to 30 October 2026, but The Petersfield School returns on 3 November and Bohunt on 9 November. Every local school's dates.

Hampshire County Council publishes one set of term dates for the schools it runs, and the two secondary schools most Petersfield families use do not follow them for the October break. The Petersfield School adds two days to half term and comes back on Tuesday 3 November. Bohunt in Liphook takes two full weeks and comes back on Monday 9 November. The independents break earlier still: Churcher’s College and Bedales finish for Christmas on 11 December, and Ditcham Park on 16 December. This page sets out the county’s dates for 2026/27, then the schools whose calendars differ, all taken from the schools’ own published dates on 25 September 2026.

The quick answer

  • Hampshire’s October half term is Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, and the autumn term ends on Friday 18 December.
  • The Petersfield School returns on Tuesday 3 November, not 2 November, and has an INSET day on Wednesday 25 November.
  • Bohunt is off from 26 October to 6 November, two weeks, and returns on Monday 9 November.
  • Churcher’s College, Bedales and Ditcham Park break up for Christmas between 11 and 16 December.

Hampshire’s dates for 2026/27

These are the county’s determined dates, which apply to community and controlled schools. Voluntary aided, foundation and some academy schools may also use them (Hampshire County Council). Each school also chooses five INSET days, and those are the dates that catch parents out.

Where the local schools differ

Every school below publishes its own calendar. The county pattern is the baseline; the table shows only where a school departs from it.

The Petersfield School runs the county’s weeks but adds Monday 2 and Tuesday 3 November to half term and closes for INSET on Friday 25 September and Wednesday 25 November. The spring term starts on Tuesday 5 January, a day after the county, and the summer term ends at midday on Wednesday 21 July (The Petersfield School).

Bohunt works in six terms with a two-week October break: Term 1 ends on Friday 23 October and Term 2 begins on Monday 9 November. It has more INSET days than anyone else here, on 25 September, 25 November, 4 January, 5 February and 22 June, plus 19 to 21 July, and its summer term ends on Friday 16 July (Bohunt School). Note that 25 September and 25 November are trust-wide days, so Bohunt and TPS are closed on the same two dates.

Churcher’s College starts a week later than everyone else and finishes earlier. Its spring term runs from 5 January to 19 March with half term from Saturday 13 to Sunday 21 February, and the summer term runs from 12 April to Friday 9 July (Churcher’s College).

Bedales starts its October half term on Friday 16 October, a full week before the state schools, and returns on Sunday 1 November for boarders (Bedales).

Ditcham Park has a two-week October break from 19 to 30 October, ends the autumn term on Wednesday 16 December, and does not start the spring term until Monday 11 January after an INSET day on the 8th. Its summer term runs from 19 April to 9 July (Ditcham Park School).

Eggar’s phases Year 7 in from 3 September and has back-to-back INSET days on 26 and 27 November, which gives its pupils a four-day weekend the state schools in Petersfield do not get (Eggar’s School). Amery Hill publishes the county calendar as its own (Amery Hill School). Herne Junior takes the county dates and adds INSET on 1 and 2 September, 27 November, 25 March and 7 June (Herne Junior School).

The dates that clash

If you have children at different schools, these are the weeks to check twice:

  • Half term. A Ditcham Park child is off from 19 October, a Churcher’s or Bedales child from 16 or 23 October, a county-school child from 26 October. They come back on 2 November (county), 3 November (TPS) or 9 November (Bohunt).
  • Late November. TPS and Bohunt close on Wednesday 25 November, Eggar’s on 26 and 27 November, and Herne Junior on 27 November. No two of those match.
  • Christmas. The independents finish between 11 and 16 December. County schools, TPS, Bohunt and Eggar’s all finish on Friday 18 December, two of them at midday or 12:40.
  • January. County schools return on Monday 4 January. TPS, Bohunt and Churcher’s return on Tuesday 5 January, and Ditcham Park on Monday 11 January.

We have not been able to reach the Petersfield Infant School site this week, and the primary schools mostly follow the county dates with their own INSET days. Check your school’s own calendar for those.
