Rogate Pumpkin Patch opens 16 October at £10 a head, Hollycombe has Halloween glow nights on 10, 17 and 31 October, and QECP carves pumpkins on the 30th and 31st.

Halloween 2026 is a Saturday, the last day of Hampshire’s half term, and the biggest things around Petersfield are on the edges of town rather than in it. Rogate Pumpkin Patch opens on Friday 16 October, the steam fairground at Hollycombe has three Halloween glow nights, and Queen Elizabeth Country Park runs Halloween Hollow on the Friday and Saturday. Every date and price below was checked on 3 October 2026 on the organiser’s own page.

Rogate Pumpkin Patch: 16 October to 1 November

This is the big one, east of Petersfield on the A272. The patch is on Slade Farm, Rogate, GU31 5EG, a working farm that grows pumpkins commercially as well as opening to the public.

Dates and times. Open daily from Friday 16 to Saturday 31 October, gates at 9.30am. The farm says it closes “when the sunlight starts to fade”, so there is no fixed closing time; you can stay as long as you like once you are in (Rogate Pumpkin Patch FAQs).

Prices. On the farm’s booking page an adult ticket is £10 and a child ticket (over 2 to 16) is £10. Under-2s are free but still need a ticket. Pumpkins are not included: you pay for them at the pumpkin shop on the way out.

Booking. It is a pre-booked event and you cannot buy at the gate. Tickets are for a timed entry slot and are non-refundable, but if you create an account before you pay you can change the date or time up to an hour before.

What is included. Themed play areas (a wizard’s wood, Dracula’s estate with a coffin room, ghostly galleons), pumpkin games, a digging area, roaming performers and a bubble witch. Face painting, the funfair rides and the go karts cost extra (what’s on).

Practical. Parking is free. No dogs except registered assistance dogs. It is a working farm, so wellies if it has rained; wheelchair users come, but the farm warns it can get muddy. Food stalls take cash and card, and picnics are allowed. Wheelbarrows are provided for carrying pumpkins, though they run short at busy times.

Pumpkin Smash, Sunday 1 November. The day after Halloween, from 10am, the leftover pumpkins are there to smash, sling and chuck, and the rest goes to the farm’s cattle. All the usual attractions still run (Pumpkin Smash).

Hollycombe Halloween glow nights: 10, 17 and 31 October

Hollycombe Steam in the Country, at Iron Hill, Liphook, GU30 7LP, opens its Edwardian steam fairground after dark on Saturday evenings, 6pm to 10pm. Three of this autumn’s glow nights are Halloween ones (Hollycombe calendar):

  • Saturday 10 October: “the perfect mix of spooky and fun… not too scary for little ones but scary enough for the adults”, with fancy dress encouraged (Hollycombe).
  • Saturday 17 October: the second Halloween night.
  • Saturday 31 October, the Halloween Spectacular: billed as the scarier season finale, with a haunted fairground, fancy dress prizes, pumpkins and a “sinister shooting gallery” for over-16s (Hollycombe).

Rides listed for the Halloween nights include a haunted ghost house, an eerie quarry railway, a spooky garden railway, the steam gallopers, chair-o-planes and dodgems. Unlimited ride wristbands are sold, parking is free, and dogs on leads are welcome. Hollycombe’s site does not print the glow night prices; they are on its Ticket Island booking page.

Halloween Hollow at Queen Elizabeth Country Park: 30 and 31 October

The country park, off the A3 south of Petersfield, runs Halloween Hollow on Friday 30 and Saturday 31 October, with sessions at 10am, 12pm and 2pm. Each one has a Halloween trail, a pumpkin playground with pumpkin bowling and ring toss, then each child carves a pumpkin to take home. It is £10 per child, adults free, booking is essential, and the sessions cannot be refunded or transferred (Queen Elizabeth Country Park).

Parking is charged on top: from 1 October it is £2 for an hour or £7 for the day. Our Queen Elizabeth Country Park page has the detail. The park also runs a Little Adventures Halloween Forest School for ages two and a half to eight on Wednesday 28 October, £12.50.

Watercress Line witches: 29 to 31 October

The heritage railway’s Halloween Witches of Watercress Woods runs Thursday 29 to Saturday 31 October, with trains from Alresford at 12.30pm and 3pm. It is a Hansel and Gretel story on board with characters along the line and a goodie bag for each child, about 1 hour 40 minutes there and back. Seats are £35 with a £2.50 booking fee, and fancy dress is encouraged (Watercress Line).

Stansted Park, Halloween Under The House: 28 to 31 October

Stansted Park at Rowlands Castle, PO9 6DX opens the vaulted cellars under the mansion, not usually open to the public, for a 20-minute walk past moving and talking animatronics. Sessions are at 6pm and 6.30pm each night from Wednesday 28 to Saturday 31 October. The park recommends it for ages 8 and up, and a drink in the Crypt afterwards is included. The booking page lists tickets at £8.25 (Stansted Park on Ticket Tailor).

For adults

Jane Austen’s House, Chawton runs a Twilight Tour: Halloween Special on Saturday 31 October, 4.30pm to 5.30pm, £19.50. It is a guided tour themed on Northanger Abbey, Austen’s spoof of Gothic novels, and on old Hallowe’en customs. It starts promptly and latecomers may not be admitted (Jane Austen’s House).

The Watercress Line also runs a Halloween Horror Train for over-18s on the same three evenings as the witches’ train.

Gentler options

Gilbert White’s House in Selborne has a Folklore and Fable Autumn Trail from Saturday 17 October to Sunday 1 November: a map and a journey stick lead children round the gardens to the trees once thought to keep witches away. Trail sheets are £2 on top of admission, best for ages 5 and up (Gilbert White’s House).

The rest of the half-term week, including Butser Ancient Farm’s history club and The Shed’s Halloween shows in Bordon, is on our October half term page.

What is not on this year

Petersfield Museum’s programme for October 2026 has no Halloween event: its listings for the month are the South Downs Open exhibition, craft workshops, an early years group and Saturday sketch clubs (Petersfield Museum). Petersfield Town Council had no Halloween event listed on 3 October either. If a town centre trail or a trick-or-treat event is announced, we will add it here.

Getting there

Rogate is on the A272 towards Midhurst and Hollycombe is near Liphook, so both are drives for most people. Check our roadworks and travel page before you set off: the A3 southbound resurfacing at Longmoor runs overnight from 9 October. If you are staying in town, parking in Petersfield has the car park tariffs. A week after Halloween, the fireworks start: Steep on 5 November and the Round Table at Bell Hill on 7 November.
