Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November in 2026, the second Sunday of the month. Petersfield’s parade and open-air service are held in The Square, and the parade then marches to the war memorial on the High Street for the wreaths and the silence. The 2026 timings have not been published yet by the town council or the district council. This page has last year’s, which have held the same shape for years, and will be updated when this year’s are confirmed.

What happens in Petersfield
The town’s Remembrance parade is organised by Petersfield Town Council with the Petersfield branch of the Royal British Legion. Uniformed organisations march into The Square, where the open-air service is held, and then on down to the war memorial for the wreath laying and the two minutes’ silence. In 2022 the town council counted about 2,000 people in The Square, with the Legion joined by Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, the Salvation Army, the Air Cadets and the combined cadet force (Petersfield Town Council, 2022). The 2018 centenary drew more than 3,000 (Petersfield Town Council).
For 2025, East Hampshire District Council listed the Petersfield parade in The Square at 10:15am on the Sunday, and a short Armistice service at the war memorial at 10:45am on 11 November (East Hampshire District Council). Those are the times to plan around until 2026’s are published. Roads around The Square and the High Street are closed for the parade; the county council’s temporary closure order for this year had not been published in its public notices on 25 September.
The war memorial itself was repaired in February 2018, when stonework and names were replaced by Traditional Stone Ltd for the town council (Petersfield Town Council).

The district council’s page still shows the 2025 programme, dated Sunday 9 November. The 2026 equivalent will be Sunday 8 November, but treat the times as last year’s until the page changes.

Poppies and the Legion
The Royal British Legion is the national custodian of Remembrance and its Petersfield branch runs the Poppy Appeal in the town. Getting there
The Square is closed to traffic for the parade. The nearest car parks are Swan Street, Central and Castle Yard, all on our parking page, and the station is five minutes’ walk. The roadworks page will carry the closure order once the county publishes it.
